I'm headed to Flagstaff, AZ, which I consider to be my hometown. I'll be doing a show with Stan Clark (from Flag) on Saturday, April 11 from 6 PM to 8 PM. I can't wait!!! Along with that, I'll get to see a couple of other good friends, too. Along with my beautiful wife, I just can't go wrong. Anyway, here's a link to Macy's ... it's worth the trip... http://www.macyscoffee.net/index.html Ciao, Ron |

Silver City Main Street Project: CD Compilation Project
| POSTED BY: highervista | POSTED ON: 03/12/09 15:45:08 | ||

Silver City's Main Street Project is sponsoring a "musician's" project where they will be compiling songs from various local Silver City and Grant County artists. I've submitted 3 songs for inclusion and hope to get at least 1 song on the CD. Maybe, if I'm lucky, and I have been in the past :-), I'll actually get 2 or 3 on the CD. I will know by May or June, 2009 about the status of my submissions. I'm crossing my fingers. In the meantime, a 100-word bio was requested by Main Street and I thought I'd post it here, as well. Any comments? "Ron McFarland started his modest music career with a $16.00 Montgomery Wards guitar that he purchased when he was 12 years old. During his teenage years and up to his thirties, he played solo gigs and in an occasional band. Later, he fell in love with playing music that inspires the soul. Today, he can be found in various music venues including folk festivals, restaurants and coffee shops playing his take on music that is written to inspire the soul infused with a Southwester New Mexico flavor. Please enjoy." |

The Sunday Morning Cup at Yankie Creek Coffee house in Silver City
| POSTED BY: highervista | POSTED ON: 02/23/09 18:23:24 | ||

The Sunday Morning Cup is a Silver City tradition. I started this event about 6 years ago at another local coffee house in Silver City. The intention is to slowly bring in Sunday morning with some Fingerstyle Guitar (by me), or Smooth Jazz Guitar (by Joe K.) or Flamenco Guitar (by Farhad) to ease in your day. The schedule rotates, but generally play one Sunday per month. The set starts around 9:30 am and continues until around 11:30 am. I hope to see you there (either listening to me, Farhad, or Joe K.). Please feel free to post any comments about this venue here, too. |

Hard Financial Times

I hear so much about the tough times that the various markets are having world-wide on the media. Also, like many folks, I know several people who have been effected by the dive in the financial markets. And, if projections are correct, we still have a ways to go before this whole mess hits bottom. On the brighter side, one way that I can 'get away' from all of the gloom and doom is by getting into my music. For you, the reader, does music help you get away or, perhaps, music helps you to direct your energy in a different way. I'd like to hear from you. How does music help you in tough financial times? |
