| I come from Bjelovar, a town in north-western Croatia. I first picked up the guitar when I was twelve(12), and my first lessons from my brother. It didn't last. I was discouraged by my small fingers so I gave it up because I couldn't play what I wanted. I again picked up the guitar at seventeen(17) and haven't dropped it since. In 2003 I started working on my own solo guitar style. The ideas, primitive at start, formed into something more complex as my technique level grew. It is only later that I familiarized myself with the style of playing calledfingerstyle and the guitarists like Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Franco Morone, Peter Finger, Muriel Anderson, Damir Halilić Hal, Branko Bogunović Pif and many others. I continued my work in the spirit of the style. Experiments with a number of different alternative tunings followed and gave numerous results. When I'm writing new music I'm one hundred percent concentrated on expressing whatever I feel, through music. I never over-analyze or feel guilty afterwards for not doing it properly or in any certain way. If it feels right, there is no single musical rule that will make me change the way the music goes. I let it naturally develop. |
