Wheelbarrows

Posted a new tune I wrote a few days ago called New Custom Wheelbarrow. On it I play mandolin, guitar and dobrofied guitar (which is just a guitar with a metal nut raising the action to play with a heavy bar slide and tuned GBDGBD...and played fingerstyle to qualify my posting here ;-) ). It seemed to have something to say about wheelbarrows, wagons or perhaps Big Wheels...evidently I went with the 'barrow. |

Greetings and welcome to my Fingerstyle-Guitar profile! Let me first thank Jens Christensen for providing the fingerstyle guitar community a great place listen to and post music, and to meet other like minded players. I think it's a great idea and it looks like Jens is a man with a plan to make it really take off. Your doing us a great service Jens! Anyway, here are some short notes on the tunes I've posted... Catfood was inspired by my geriatric (but still spry) cat waking up from a nap and going to get some food. No, I can't explain why such an inane thing provoked inspiration but I suppose I'm easily impressed. It's featured on the compilation cd Toronto Fingerstyle. Tuning: CGCGCD Flutterboard came about through messing around with the tuning that I used for Catfood. Amongst the few people who have a favourite tune of mine, this one is usually it. Tuning: CGCGCD The Courante is from Bach's Lute Suite in E minor (BWV 996). I just love this piece and had to learn it. Admittedly, I should never have listened to the John Williams recording as now I'll never be satisfied with my own version...but I still love the tune. Tuning: Standard The Theme from Taxi I felt was a stand out 70's TV theme song. The original instrumentation included a couple of keyboards, bass, drums, guitar and a telephone or two but I tried to approximate as much as I could. I ignored the telephone parts as I couldn't think of a way to convey that sound on the guitar. Tuning: Drop D Dance of the Capybara is my attempt at writing a Latin flavoured piece. I think I associate it with the Capybara because it's a little funny looking. Tuning: DADGAD |
